On PC, aim at hay and left-click to collect. Buy Hold for the Hand or Pitchfork before holding the button for continuous collection. Tab opens the upgrade shop during a run and can close it again. Use the number shown on an item's hotbar slot to select it, then check which tool you're holding.
Keyboard and mouse inputs
| Input | Effect | Condition or scene |
|---|---|---|
| Left mouse button | Aim at hay and click to collect it; your bag's hay count increases. | Hand equipped, with room in the bag. |
| Hold the left mouse button | Continues collecting while you aim at hay. | Hand or Pitchfork with its own Hold upgrade purchased. |
| Hold the left mouse button with Vacuum equipped | Runs the Vacuum to collect hay. | Watch its heat; let an overheated Vacuum cool before using it again. |
| Number on a hotbar slot | Selects the item in that slot; check what you're holding before using it. | Read the numbers on your current hotbar. |
| Tab with the upgrade shop closed | Opens the tool upgrade screen. | During a chapter run. |
| Tab with the upgrade shop open | Closes the upgrade shop. | Finish your purchase before returning to collection. |
| Tab, then click the music control | Lets you reach the music control with your pointer in first person. | PC music interface; press Tab before moving the pointer. |
| Backslash | Enables or disables UI Navigation and its visible focus outline. | The macOS lobby's selectable menu controls. |
| Arrow keys | Move the menu's focus outline. | UI Navigation enabled; read the highlighted label. |
| Return | Activates the highlighted control. | Selectable macOS lobby controls, including gift Claim and Chroma EXIT. |
| Mouse aim and held click | Aims and fires the arcade weapon. | The lobby's UFO Blaster arcade game. |
Click exposed Gems directly. Holding the collection button can remove the surrounding hay without picking up the Gem. Watch your Gems balance to check the pickup.
Menus and buttons
The October 4, 2026 update log listed More Settings without a complete control list or new button instructions. The controls documented here describe the earlier interface. If your layout differs, read the current setting’s label; do not infer a new shortcut from the release-note heading.
| Button or control | Location | What to click or select | Effect and check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Player-count, chapter and difficulty selections | Lobby queue circle. | Enter the circle, choose the group size, then choose the chapter and mode. | Sets up that queue; check all selections before creating it. |
| Create | Lobby chapter-selection panel. | Select it after choosing a chapter and difficulty. | Creates the chosen queue; locked chapters need their displayed unlock requirement first. |
| Tool and upgrade choices | Upgrade shop opened with Tab. | Select a tool, choose the property, and use its purchase control. | Buys the selected upgrade if you can afford it; check its new level and your Cash. |
| Upgrade Bag | Farmhouse barn. | Use the bag-upgrade interaction and its purchase option. | Raises the bag's capacity; check its maximum, which is separate from tool Hold. |
| Codes | Lobby interface. | Select Codes to open the entry window. | Shows the field where you enter a reward code. |
| Code field and Redeem | Codes window. | Enter the complete code, then select Redeem. | Submits the code; read the result and check the reward balance. |
| Class roll button | Classes area in the lobby. | Read the price and select Spin or the roll control shown in your menu. | Spends Gems for a random class and replaces the class in that slot. |
| Auto Roll and its target selection | Classes menu. | Set the desired target before starting Auto Roll. | Under the September 30 and October 1 rules, rolls stop at the target or a rarer class. Check the current menu's stop rule before starting. |
| Pet Equip | Pet menu. | Select a pet you own and use Equip. | Makes that pet active; check the equipped state before entering a chapter. |
| Edit and accessory selection | Pet screen. | Open Edit, then select the accessory you own to equip it. | Puts the accessory on your pet; it isn't an accessory for your character. |
| Index | Tab menu during a match, when shown. | Open the menu and select Index. | Opens the collection record so you can check discovered hay entries. |
| Settings | Game interface. | Open Settings and read the options shown in that window. | Gives access to the game's settings; audio options apply according to their labels. |
| Music or mute control | Game interface, including the older top-right control. | On PC, use Tab to reach it if your pointer is locked, then click it. | Changes the music setting; check whether the sound you wanted to change is affected. |
| Skip | Opening cutscene, when the button appears. | Select the visible Skip button. | Skips that opening scene and lets you start the search. |
| Free gift Claim | Lobby's free Chroma gift panel. | Select the available Claim control. | Opens the Chroma chest window; inspect the opening and purchase choices there. |
| Open X3 | Chroma chest window. | Select the available three-chest opening option. | Starts a three-chest opening; read the results shown in the window. |
| EXIT | Chroma chest window. | Select EXIT. | Closes the Chroma window; another lobby panel may remain open. |
The free gift's Claim and the priced offers for three, five or ten chests are separate choices. Check the displayed currency and price before buying. After a manual class roll, read the new class before rolling again. The class guide explains the slot and Auto Roll rules; the Codes page covers reward strings and redemption errors.
Phone and controller controls
| Device and control | Action | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Phone: on-screen joystick | Move the character with the joystick. | Your character changes position. A frozen camera can still make movement hard to judge. |
| Phone: jump button | Tap the jump control. | Your character jumps; use the visible button rather than a PC key prompt. |
| Phone: collection button | Aim at hay and use the on-screen collection control. | Hay is collected. A Farmhouse layout shows Pickup on the right; other interfaces may use a different label. |
| Phone: Ranch tool-use button, September 2026 layout | Tap the use control while aiming the equipped tool at the boss's marked vulnerable spot. | Activates that tool's attack in that layout. Moving the joystick and tapping the use control are separate actions. |
| Phone: joystick while driving the Ranch truck | Get the car key, sit in the driver's seat, then use the joystick. | Supplies the truck's driving input; being in a passenger seat doesn't put you in control. |
| Controller: RT with Vacuum equipped, September 2026 mapping | Try holding the right trigger with Vacuum selected. | Uses the Vacuum for collection in that setup; watch its heat meter. |
On a phone, use the bag count to check collection. If the camera freezes while your character still moves or jumps, the camera has a separate problem. See common problems for the relevant checks.
The RT entry applies to Vacuum. For another controller tool, follow the input shown for that tool rather than carrying the Vacuum mapping over to it.
Chapter interactions
| Scene or object | Control to use | Effect | Success check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farmhouse cow's Feed window | Approach and use Feed. | Sells the hay you're carrying. | Your bag empties and Cash increases. |
| Farmer, after finding the Needle | Select the Needle, then use Give. | Hands the Needle to the Farmer and starts his response. | The handoff dialogue or scene begins. |
| Red DO NOT PRESS button behind the Farmhouse barn | Click the red button. | Triggers the cow's UFO abduction scene. | Watch the scene begin; this is an optional interaction. |
| Basement lever at the end of a colored wire | Approach and interact with that lever. | Activates that wire's lever. | After all three, the DO NOT ENTER door opens. |
| Basement picture tile | Click an individual tile. | Rotates that tile. | Compare it with the small reference; an accepted picture advances the puzzle counter. |
| Colored crystal pedestal | Click the matching pedestal once at a time. | Advances its displayed count; the recorded interface wraps from 5 to 0. | Stop at your room’s total. If you overshoot, cycle back through 0 to the target; check floating crystals, a green indicator and puzzle progress. |
| Loose Basement paper | Click the paper. | Turns it over to show its contents. | Keep looking past X-marked papers until one shows four digits. |
| Basement keypad | Click the four digits from the current paper, then the green check mark. | Submits the entry. A rejected entry turns red. | Green display border and puzzle progress confirm acceptance. After rejection, reread the paper and reopen the panel for a corrected attempt. |
| Basement exit | Equip the Basement Key, climb the ladder and use the trapdoor. | Opens your way out once the lasers are gone. | You reach the ending outside the Basement. |
| Crashed UFO in Ranch | Bring a collected part to the UFO and click it on PC. | Opens the repair task for that part. | Finish the task and check both the parts and repair objectives. |
| Ranch Break Free prompt on PC | Click or press the displayed letter when the moving ring is inside the green zone. | GOOD! or PERFECT! advances the recorded progress dots. | Read each new cue; continue to YOU’RE FREE! and a vanished prompt before resuming movement and attacks. |
A part-appeared message tells you to find the part, not that you've already collected or installed it. At the UFO, an attachment message also doesn't finish an open repair task. Check Find all the Parts and Repair the UFO separately: the completed objectives are 7/7 parts and 1/1 repair.
The Basement's code and crystal counts come from your current room. Those are puzzle answers, while the clicks and entry controls stay the same. For object locations and the complete escape route, use the Basement walkthrough.
The optional red button is covered in the UFO guide. It doesn't replace the Needle handoff to the Farmer.
Combined actions and their order
| Sequence | Why the order matters |
|---|---|
| Tab → select tool → select upgrade → purchase → Tab | Open the shop before buying, and close it before resuming collection. Pressing Tab alone doesn't buy an upgrade. |
| Buy that tool's Hold → equip it → hold the collection input | Hold must belong to the tool you're using. Switching tools doesn't transfer the purchase. |
| Select Needle → approach Farmer → Give | The Needle must be equipped for the handoff. Finding it and giving it are separate steps. |
| Backslash → arrow keys → Return on macOS | Enable UI Navigation, move the focus outline, then activate the highlighted control. These are successive inputs. |
| Current Break Free key → next displayed cue | Follow the changing prompt and timing. A memorized F, X, Z sequence can fail when the prompt differs. |
Press Tab and then click; you don't need to hold both inputs together. For menu navigation on macOS, read the focused control before pressing Return, especially beside paid options. To stop navigating through menu focus, press Backslash again.
If a collection input seems to stop
Check the bag first. A full bag needs selling before ordinary collection can continue. If it still has room, look at the equipped tool: the Hand or Pitchfork may need its own Hold purchase, while the Vacuum may be overheated. Re-aim at remaining hay after the area beneath your pointer clears.
For upgrade choices and tool behavior, continue with upgrades and tools.
